OUR Plan
The Greens’ plan for Prahran will address the cost of living, housing and climate crises. Our plan will help people now, and set us on a pathway to a brighter future for all of us.
Our policy platform is bold, comprehensive and independently costed. We are fighting for a future where we make big corporations pay their fair share of tax and fund the things that everyone needs.
All of this is possible. The first step is voting for someone who will fight for you and the things you believe in.

Take on the big supermarkets, tax big corporations and stop price gouging
The big corporations are blatantly price gouging. While they charge you more and more, they’re posting billions in profits. 1 in 3 big corporations pays no tax. Labor has the power to rein them in, but both major parties take millions in donations from big corporations. They’re letting them get away with it. The Greens are fighting for you. We will hold big corporations to account, tax them and deliver the services everyone needs.
The Greens plan:
- Make big corporations pay their fair share of tax
- Regulate supermarkets to stop price gouging
- Axe billions of dollars in handouts to the coal, oil and gas giants that are driving the climate crisis

Real climate action; stop Labor’s new coal and gas
Coal and gas are the leading causes of the climate crisis.
But Labor and the Liberals are pouring more fuel on the fire by backing more coal and gas.
Labor is fast-tracking gas drilling next to the 12 Apostles. It’s also allowing seismic blasting for new gas – blasts which can be heard hundreds of kilometres away and which can deafen whales.
Labor doesn’t have a plan to get out of coal.
The Greens want to replace coal and gas with 100% renewable energy, while protecting workers and creating jobs.
With more Greens in Parliament, we can push the next government to go further and faster on tackling the climate crisis.
The Greens plan:
- Stop new coal and gas, including gas drilling in Victoria’s oceans
- Investing $10 billion to build new renewable energy, including publicly-owned renewable energy for the benefit of all Victorians.
- Make fossil fuel corporations pay their fair share of state taxes
- Back coal and gas communities to transition to new jobs

Better access to hospitals, ambulances, doctors & dentists, fix our health system
Victorians need to know that if they have to see a doctor, call an ambulance or go to hospital, they will get the care they need, when they need it.
But to ensure people receive the care they need, we must relieve the burden on hospitals and on our overworked nurses, doctors, paramedics, midwives and allied health workers, who are burning out and leaving our public health system.
For decades, Labor and the Liberals have put the bare minimum into Victoria’s hospitals, community and mental health systems. The pandemic showed it wasn’t enough.
The government has thankfully, started to catch up with additional funding. But there is more needed to ensure Victorians get the healthcare they need.
The Greens’ plan increases health funding by an extra $5 billion, and focuses on the forgotten areas of disease prevention, dental and mental health care.
With more Greens in parliament, we’re pushing the state government to prioritise health and hospital funding so everyone can get the care they need.
The Greens plan for Prahran:
- Open new free GP clinics in Prahran
- Free up beds in hospitals by providing more aged care, disability and rehab beds outside hospitals
- Fund more psychologists and psychiatrists for schools and public clinics.
- Protect abortion rights
- Ensure health and aged care workers are properly paid

Affordable, accessible, and climate-friendly public transport for Prahran
People shouldn’t have to wait 20 minutes, and often much longer, for their train, tram or bus to turn up.
More trains, trams and buses will cut climate-damaging transport emissions, reduce car traffic, and make it easier to get around our city, and our state.
To keep up with more services, we also need to upgrade our track and tunnel networks across the city and beyond.
We need a massive increase in train, tram and bus services so Victorians can get where they need to go – faster.
The Greens plan for Prahran:
- 50c public transport fares
- Upgrade South Yarra station
- Get trains and trams running every 5 – 10 minutes from 7am – 7pm
- A 21km safe protected bike lane running from Elsternwick to the northern suburbs
- Make Windsor Station fully accessible

LGBTIQA+ rights
We should all feel safe and have equal opportunities in life, no matter our sexuality, gender identity or sex characteristics.
While Victoria has come a long way, gaps and loopholes in our laws allow discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and Asexual (LGBTIQA+) people to continue. This discrimination causes harm and its impacts can be deep and damaging.
We need to improve our laws so that no one faces discrimination or harm because of their sexuality, gender identity or sex characteristics.
The Greens plan:
- Funding for community controlled LGBTIQA+ services
- Establishing an LGBTIQA+ Community Hub with family services, youth facilities, events, and co-located health services
- Investing in additional clinical services for trans, gender diverse and non-binary Victorians
- Ongoing funding for pride events and festivals around the state
- Social, psychological and peer support for intersex people and their families
- A $200 Million ‘Rainbow State Fund’ for LGBTIQA+ community-led organisations

Truth, Treaty, Justice for First Nations people
Now is the time for Truth, Treaty and Justice.
The 2023 referendum campaign clearly demonstrated the need to have an honest and informed discussion about our shared history so we can speak the truth, heal and move forward together through Treaty or Treaties and the affirmation of First Nations Sovereignty – which has never been ceded. We have an opportunity to do things differently in this country by starting that process now.
The Greens are committed to the ongoing fight for transformative change. We are fighting alongside First Nations elders, activists and campaigners to:
- Ensure all Traditional Owner groups are on a level playing field with the government in Treaty negotiations
- Protect Aboriginal cultural heritage
- Raise the age and keep kids out of prison
- Consult on establishing healing places for all Nations
- Strengthen cultural heritage protection laws with self-determination rights

Fix the housing crisis; freeze and cap rents, build affordable homes in Prahran
In a wealthy country like Australia, everyone should have a secure, affordable home. Rents are rising three to four times faster than wages and too many people are locked out of owning a home of their own.
Our public housing system has been neglected, with more than 100,000 Victorians waiting for a home, and tens of thousands more experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. The Greens have a plan for serious reform of the housing system.
The Greens will:
- Freeze and cap rents
- Stop interest rate increases
- End billions in public handouts to property investors that stop renters buying their first home
- Urgently build public, community and affordable homes
- Build homes to sell and rent at affordable rates
- Stop the large scale destruction and privatisation of public housing in Melbourne
- Increase funding for homelessness support services

Protect the environment and animals
People depend on a healthy environment to thrive.
Yet in Victoria we are facing an extinction crisis, many of our ecosystems are on the brink of collapse and plastic pollution is still a huge problem.
We urgently need to turn the tide on environmental destruction, but the Labor and Liberal parties are only making the crisis worse.
Labor still supports barbaric duck hunting and is failing to fund vital programs that could restore habitat and protect threatened species.
The Greens are pushing the Labor government in Victoria to centre First Nations people in Caring for Country, create thousands of jobs in habitat restoration and secure a healthy environment for all of us.
The Greens plan:
- Fix Victoria’s broken nature laws
- Stop the extinction crisis
- Fund First Nations people caring for Country
- A ban on new oil and gas drilling
- Fix the waste crisis
- End animal cruelty by banning duck hunting and greyhound racing

End the invasion of Gaza, end the occupation
The Greens are fighting, alongside the community, for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, to stop the violence and end the occupation. Labor not only backs Israel’s invasion and occupation, they approve military exports to Israel. Last year alone, the Albanese Government signed off on 52 military export permits to Israel, plus over 350 since 2017. We must do everything we can to work with the international community and demand peace.
The Greens are fighting for:
- An end to the invasion and genocide in Gaza
- The release of hostages and political prisoners
- An immediate and permanent ceasefire
- An end to the occupation of the Palestinian territories
- Immediate stop military exports to Israel

Invest in education, and genuinely free public schools
Every family should have access to a high quality, genuinely free, local public school.
But the Labor Government is underfunding our public schools. Victoria has the lowest-funded public schools in Australia.
This means our public schools don’t get the funding they need to meet everyone’s needs and the cost of what should be a free education is rising.
The Greens’ plan would invest more in our local public schools, community-run early childhood centres and in our public TAFE system.
The Greens plan:
- $12m for St Kilda Primary School to build an Indoor School Community Hub
- Investing $1.46 billion more into Victoria’s public schools over the next 5 years
- Pushing for the Federal Government to increase funding to meet 100% of the Gonski standards
- Making public education genuinely free by removing out-of-pocket school expenses for families
- $100 million extra funding for TAFEs
- Free Kinder for 3 and 4 years olds.
The Greens plan for Prahran
The Greens’ plan for Prahran is all about putting people and the planet first. Angelica Di Camillo is fighting for bold solutions to the issues that matter most – like making housing affordable, tackling the climate crisis by ending coal and gas, and expanding Medicare to include mental and dental health care. With a focus on equity, sustainability, and building a connected community, this is a plan to create a future where everyone can thrive. Together, we can make Prahran a leader in progressive, people-powered change.
